From the perspective of repair ship type: in terms of bulk carrier repair, it is expected that the repair volume of bulk carriers will increase significantly by 2025, mainly because bulk carriers will reach the delivery peak around 2010-2011, and most ships will reach 15 years of age by 2025, when the number of ships requiring special inspection will be much higher than in other years.

According to the current dual-fuel orders of major shipping companies, methanol dual-fuel, which will come into effect in 2023, has accounted for 56% of the orders for new container ships. Some shipping companies such as Maersk have also started to have methanol dual-fuel ship modification plans.
Business Opportunities from (III) Codes and Regulations
The entry into force of environmental regulations such as EEXI (Technical Energy Efficiency Indicator for Existing Ships) and CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator for Operating Ships) will lead to the need for some ships to be retrofitted with environmental protection devices, which may have some modification orders. However, most shipowners will adopt the scheme of limiting power of the main engine and silicone paint of the shell, and the potential demand for large-scale modification projects such as dual-fuel modification is insufficient. The Ballast Water Convention will enter into force in 2024, before which all operating ships must be installed, so this year will be the final installation period for ballast water equipment except for new ships. The desulfurization tower will be subject to fluctuations in the price difference between high and low sulfur oil, and if the price difference is very high, there will still be a wave of market.
Development Prospect of Green Ship Repair in (IV)
The ship repair industry is a typical labor-intensive industry, which has the characteristics of both manufacturing and service industries. The digital transformation is difficult and generally in the exploratory stage. Most ship repair companies have implemented systems commonly used by manufacturing companies, which generally cover finance, procurement and warehousing, OA, and personnel. Some leading domestic management enterprises are exploring the core process of ship repair business step by step, integrating operation, production and settlement management, and establishing an electronic price library to solve the core business pain points such as low efficiency and difficulty in standardization of project orders, many settlement disputes with subcontractors and long settlement cycle, and to merge and circulate initial orders, inspection orders, sub-orders, final completion orders, external settlement orders, sub-bills and internal settlement orders, with this as the main line to further through the quality, safety, materials, logistics, etc., and docking financial system, to achieve the integration of industry and finance. The digital future of ship repair will be based on massive big data, AI, cloud computing and other technologies to accelerate the application and development of intelligent ship repair production and the whole life cycle of ships.
