1. Coating
Coating is one of the most commonly used protective measures on the surface of ships. The surface of the hull is coated with an anti-corrosion coating such as epoxy paint coating, zinc coating or stainless steel plate, which can play an anti-corrosion role.
2. Cathodic protection
Cathodic protection is one of the main measures for ship surface corrosion protection. A cathode is placed near the metal surface and is in communication with the metal surface. Since the potential of the cathode is lower than the metal surface, the battery formed between the two will inhibit the electrochemical reaction, thereby slowing down corrosion.
3. Electrochemical protection
There are two methods of electrochemical protection, namely anode and conductive coating. In the anode protection, the current is introduced into the metal surface to slow down the corrosion; in the conductive coating protection, the conductive particles are added to the coating to make the entire coating become an electrode, thereby increasing its electrochemical impedance and reducing the corrosion reaction rate.
4. Mechanical protection
Mechanical protection is a form of physical isolation that protects metal surfaces from damage by installing physical barriers such as metal meshes, guardrails and steel plates.
